Arduino was one of the crew of the ITALIA dirigible built by General Umberto Nobile that crashed during the flight over the North Pole on May 23, 1928 at 04:30 local time.
Arduino was the engineer responsible for the left motor of the dirigible. He died, not because of the crash, but because after touching the pack, the dirigible lost the weight of his shuttle and the frame was lifted into the air with some members of the crew, including Arduino. Their remains were never found.

This entry on the Wikipedia website offers a very comprehensive history of the airship, especially of the crash and the subsequent rescue efforts. It offers a very complementary story of Ettore's efforts to help save the crew after the crash. You can access the site by clicking on the title above.

AEROCLUB di VERONA - "ETTORE ARDUINO"
This website is in Italian, but you can obtain a machine-translation by copying the URl and then pasting it into the BabelFish program. I found the History of the club to be of interest. You can access the site by clicking on the title above.
