In early 1972, in order to combat an outbreak of Asiatic Newcastle Disease in the Southern California
area, I was transfered from Turlock to the State Veterinary Laboratory in San Gabriel. Jo came down periodically from Turlock to look
for a suitable home for us. By this time, we had the 21 foot trailerable sailboat which had to be parked out of view of the street. After a
lot of looking, she found the ideal place. The problem was our home in Turlock was worth only $16,000 and the new one in Pasadena
was $52,000. Thanks to a personal loan from the realtor lady, we were able to make the down payment and moved in. |
