Still mad about response I've been angry since the day Katrina hit land. Surely the Bush administration could, at least, have brought the Louisiana National Guard home from Iraq. Personally I wish they had not started the Iraq war at all and spent all that money on the unilateral war, leaving no money for things like repairing New Orleans' levees. Three years ago, a five-day Pulitzer Prize-winning series appeared in the New Orleans Times Picayune newspaper, which predicted this disaster and what could be done to prevent it. One billion dollars was needed. Instead, we're spending at least that much every week on the Iraq war. Bush is tring to blame FEMA, etc. for the slow response to these devastated people, but I think the old "buck stops here" applies to our government leaders. Jo Cooper PASADENA |
