DISCOVERED---MORE EARLY BIRDS

JAMES L. KINNEY has been in close touch with the air world of today to the knowledge of hundreds who will attest to his inspections for the late Bureau of Air Commerce. He soloed in August 1915, at Alameda Marsh, California, in a pusher biplane of Harvey Crawford's with a "three-in-one" control, whatever that is. (Any number of controls claim the same formula.) He enlisted in the Signal Corps in May 1917, attended ground school at the University of California and was successfully discharged April 30, 1920, at Post Field. He continued in commercial aviation and in the Army reserve until the fall of 1927, when he joined the bureau. He is now Assistant Regional Supervisor for the CAA in Santa Monica
