     Lt Com. Zachary Lansdowne, (1888-1925) joined British transatlantic flight from Scotland to Long Island, New York, July 1919 as a U.S. Navy observer aboard the British airship R-34; landing operations. The British captain of the R-34 was Maj. George Herbert Scott. Lansdowne, later commander of the U.S. airship Shenandoah, died in the September 1925 crash of the Shenandoah in stormy weather..
