BIOGRAPHICAL BRIEFS
by email from Don Fiore, 8-26-03
Capt. Piazza was born on March 17, 1871 at Busto Arsizio, Italy. He received his pilot''s brevet in April, 1911 only months before taking command of the Royal Italian Army air detachment with expeditionary forces in Libya in October, 1911.
I don't have many details on his death, only that Piazza died in 1917 on the Italian Front during World War I.

AVIATION AT THE START OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR
You will find a full pagagraph of information on Captain Piazza on this U. S. Centennial of Flight Commission webpage. It is perhaps the most complete, if very limited, description of his exploits in the Turko-Italian War in 1911. Most of the other links simply restate the same facts. You can access the site by clicking on the title above.

You may want to check some of the other links which are available. However, they don't do much to enhance his story.
