Lucille B. Rutshaw

  Early Bird Mrs. Lucille B. Rutshaw of San Diego, California, passed away September 1, 1961, following illness for the past year. Mrs. Rutshaw was born in Bowie, Texas. Billed as Lucille Belmont, she started in her early twenties in 1912, making balloon ascensions and multiple parachute drops at fairs and carnivals all over the country. Later marrying, becoming Mrs. Rutshaw, she continued her parachute activities for many years. Mrs. Rutshaw had made her contribution to Smithsonian E. B. plaque and has supplied numerous posters and clippings for the Air Museum records. Upon her death, she also willed $100.00 to the Early Bird General Fund.
