AUTOBIOGRAPHY
by Frank Schober
Started to build Models in 1908 after visiting Morris Park where the Aeronautical Society members were building and tryng out their inventions. Worked as a silk weaver in a textile plant where my father was Manager Superintendant thru 1909. The in June 1910, went to visit their show in Boston Feb 1910 went with Church Model Airplane Co. of Brooklyn. Then I won the Worlds Model Airplane record with a flight of 215' 6" at the 22nd Reg. Armory. Gave up weaving as the bug bit me and spent most of time at Mineola, L.I., where the Aeronautical So. moved their headquarters and in that year we model flyers formed the N. Y. Model Airplane Club of which I was listed first Vice President. Jean Roche was also an E.B. also Ralph Barnaby another E.B. and Naval Glider Pilot. In 1911, I worked around Mineola as a free lance mechanic. to learn more about airplane construction and flying models when I had time off.
