His grand niece
Hi Ralph,
I'm Fred Wiseman's grand niece, and in doing research on him, I found your lovely comments (Google).
He was a swell fellow. Died when I was fourteen, but I hero-worshipped him as a child. He and my dad were close. Uncle Fred was quite the inventor, you know? He was the first to laminate the prop for strength, too.
My brother donated the propeller to the Smithsonian back in the 80s when they were finally getting around to restoring Uncle Fred's aircraft for display. I donated the photo album/scrapbook.
I miss him. Not as much as I miss my dad, but a lot.
Best,
Marilyn Guinnane

Dear Mrs. Guinnane:

The Wiseman-Cooke restoration is now completed and the aircraft is on display at our Garber Facility. I am enclosing some photographs of the restored aircraft for you and your family. Could you please see that your father and Billy each get one of these photographs?

Shortly after the aircraft was finished, we took these pictures on the first nice day. I could not have notified you in advance when this would be as it was entirely dependent on the weather. However, you and your family are welcome to visit the Museum at any time and see the aircraft.

I would like to thank all of you for your help on this project. It certainly made the restoration much more authentic.

    Sincerely,
Rick Leyes
