CHICAGO AVIATOR INJURED.
The New York Herald
August 30, 1911
FREEPORT, ILL., Wednesday.---Fred Heegle, twenty-six years of age, a novice aviator of Chicago, was probably fatally injured and several spectators hurt today when Heegle's biplane fell fifty feet during an exhibition flight.
The exhibition was for the benefit of Mrs. Daniel Kreamer, whose husband was killed a short time ago while trying for a pilot's license in Chicago. None of the spectators was severely injured.

REQUEST FOR HELP
via email from Suzanne K. Jones, 11-24-07
I am searching for the photograph "Where two Navy Air Heroes Met Death in Virginia" which was the actual plane crash picture from the Asheville Times. I have a picture which was laminated years ago, and it is now not able to be copied because of the deterioration within the laminate. This was the air crash which occurred April 26, 1927 with Lt. Com. Noel Davis & Lt. Stanton Hall Wooster attempting the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Wooster was my mother's half-brother, and she was 10 years old at the time of the crash.
Do you have an idea who can help me? Thanks for your effort . . .

Stanton Hall Wooster
This page on the Arlington National Cemetery website offers a very detailed account of the two aviators who were lost while preparing for an attempt to fly to Paris. It is reported that while Davis was the senior member of the team, it was actually Lt. Wooster who was destined to be the principle pilot during the flight. You can access the page by clicking on the title above.
