Carl Bates      This is one of many entries on the Iowa Aviation Hall of Fame section of the Iowa Aviation Museum website. You will find a very nice photograph of Carl, from the same original photograph as I was permitted to use in other sections of this page. His biography is brief, but very helpful and offers some facts which are new to me. You can access the page by clicking on the title above. Wright Days Gallery      This sub-section of the Wisconsin Historical Society website offers three photos of Carl, one in his glider taken in 1906,a second, showing him in his biplane racing an auto in about 1909 and a third showing him in his biplane on the beach in Daytona Beach, Florida. Each of them can be enlarged to full screen size and includes brief descriptions of the events.
