CURTISS L. DAY 1895-1972

 

Curtiss L. Day, who was born May 24, 1895, died Tuesday, April 25, 1972      He flew his first glider in 1911 and soloed in a powered airplane July 22, 1914. In 1916 he became a test pilot at Hempstead Field, Long Island with the Wright Company.      During World War I he served as an advanced flying instructor with the Army Air Section. His FAI Certificate is No. 302.      Survivors include his mother and father who are living in Paxton, Illinois. From The Early Birds of Aviation CHIRP January 1973, Number 79
