R.M.Kinderman of Middletown, New Jersey died October 21, 1969 at the age of 82, after a long illness. He was born August 13, 1887 at Grafton, West Virginia. His first solo flight was made in July 1910 in a home- made pusher biplane. After this he continued to build and fly experimental airplanes, and worked as an aircraft mechanic for a number of other aviators.
One of the planes he built was powered with a Curtiss four cylinder engine, which he purchased from the Curtiss Motor Co., Hammondsport, N.Y. in 1915. This engine has since been presented to the Smithsonian Institution by Mrs. Kinderman.
Kinderman is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys C. Kinderman.
