  My Name is Julie.
I ran across your Early Aviator's page while surfing for information on my Great Uncle Alexander Ogilvie.
In earlier searches I found the Wright State Universities-Wright Brothers Collection (actually a friend came across this site and sent to me) and in it is listed an Alexander Ogilvie. At this time I do not know if they are the same man because I have very little on my Uncle... and I have found very little on the Ogilvie that is listed in the archives at the University.
My question is would anyone have any information on this Ogilvie that spent time with the Wright Brothers? I know he was at Belmont in 1910 and I believe flew in the race for the English. ( so I have read)...the University also has pictures of him with Griffen Brewer in 1913, Orville and Ogilvie working on a glider and a pictures of Orville and Ogilvie at the controls for a glider coming in for a landing 1911 Kitty Hawk.
Here is the little bit of information that I have on my Great Uncle
Alexander Kaye Ogilvie
b. July 15, 1889, Kenosha, WI
d. November 21, 1918
France
1) I have a picture of him that has written on the bottom 2nd Lt. A.(U.?) S. M. A. A. E. F.
2) I have papers put together by his family that he was a pilot and that his plane came down on the 12th of Nov. 1918...and he died on the 21 in France. He was buried at a Crown Hill Cemetery In Government Lot...where this I am not sure.
3) I also have a letter from the, War Department Headquarters Central Department Office Department Aeronautical Officer Chicago, certifying that Mr. A.K. Ogilvie, 3405 W Monroe St., Chicago Ill. was enlisted as Private 1st class in the Aviation Section, Signal Enlisted Reserve Corps, July 13, 1917, and is now subject to orders placing him on active duty. Letter dated August 7, 1917.
Any Help would be much appreciated
Yours,
