via email from Michel Iliescu, 8-3-06 I was just surfing the net and decided to look him up. He was my father’s Uncle, and a poet, actually a book was written about him in 1983 : Poetul Inaltimilor Aviator Mircea Zorileanu.. I’ve got a copy, but can’t read Rumanian. He was on my father’s mother’s side, which also included the founder of the D’avila Rumainin medical school, University, and also a famous classical composer, and going back to the crusade of a Earl and Knight of St-John. As you can see, his family was somehow destined to undertake unusual tasks and adventures! My father also became a pilot in the Rumanian air force and was a decorated fighter pilot (Captain). Flew many battles, including Ploesti, Bucharest and some over the black sea. Michel Iliescu |

Courtesy of Aurelian Simionescu, 8-16-06 I know that Bibescu had 3 students and only Zorileanu and Capsa received their pilot licenses. Istrate must have been the third student who either abandoned school, or failed to take his license. |
