My guess is that following the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745, Bonnie Prince
Charlie and a' that, and the Highland Clearances and the banning of the
wearing of the kilt etc, that the term NB (North Britain) was used in
place of Scotland. It occurs quite a lot on the RAeS cards initially I
was thinking of New Brunswick, but I am positive it is North Britain
now.from John Terry, 9-12-08 There are a lot of pink cards with Military links that I have seen and a date of death during the 1st World War. So sad that many of our pioneers perished at the beginning of such an exciting century. |

Pete Jones comments: On Alan Boyle, I found about eleven to twelve relevant links on Google when you enter Alan Reginald Boyle. The first are from ThePeerage.com website which includes mention of his wife and daughters. His daughter Fenella Boyle was a Woman's Auxillary Pilot in World War 2. She seems to have been a big wig and following in her father's footsteps in being a pilot. Below is a photo of Boyle and the Avis monoplane.
