BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
via email from Dave Lam, 8-15-04
Reference LeCompte/Lecomte— The records are very poor on him, and I can’t give you his first name either. He earned French License # 320, but the date and aircraft type are not recorded. Licenses before and after his are dated 7 Dec 1910, but that does not clearly identify when he earned his license, since #s 330-334 are dated prior to that, on 23 November 1910. Sorry not to have more to offer at this time. There was a Leon Lecomte, A French pilot, who died in a crash in Germany on 7 Sep 1911— I bet it was the same person, but I cannot prove it at this time.

"Aviator's Close Call,"
"Nancy, France, July 13. - The French Aviator Lecompe, (Lecomte), while flying near here today, became entangled in telegraph wires and fell with his machine on the rilroad tracks as an express train came thundering along in the distance. The engineer stopped his train in time to avoid running down the aviator, who was not seriously injured."
